Cyberpunk 2077’s entire existence has been a rollercoaster. From promising way too much in the time leading up to its release to being wholly underwhelming and notoriously buggy when it came out, the title really didn’t have the best start. However, two years on and a number of updates later (not to mention a genuinely great anime series on Netflix), opinions of CD Projekt Red’s futuristic action RPG have changed significantly. You only need to look at the excited responses to the sequel being announced to tell you that.
Just to hammer that point home, as reported by PCGamesN, 90% of Steam reviews left for the game in the last 30 days have been positive, resulting in an overall “Very Positive” verdict for the title’s recent reviews. Imagine telling that to someone from December 2020.

Paweł Sasko, quest director at CD Projekt Red, took to Twitter to celebrate the news: “Woooo, look at this! 90% of reviews on Steam in the last 30 days are Very Positive,” he wrote. “Feels so good, you can't imagine.”
Fans have been pouring out their support, too: “Fully deserved! The game is magnificent and I'm so happy that so many more players got to see that,” @VerniArts replied. “Well deserved, I have really high hopes for the expansion and I’m sure it’ll be a masterpiece,” @hmclq wrote. “Deserved. One of the best games in recent memory. Enjoyed every second of it (on PS5) and can't wait for Phantom [Liberty] and the sequel!” added @jnightx.

There’s no doubt that the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime helped generate a lot of extra hype for the game - player numbers skyrocketed after the show’s debut, and even legendary game developer Hideo Kojima hailed it as “a miracle”. You can’t get much higher praise than that.
