It usually starts with a simple conversation starter. In this case, u/WanderWut headed in the PS5 subreddit and exclaimed, "My gosh, Cyberpunk 2077 is just amazing." They're right. But where it got interesting was in the top reply.
The reply from u/Sosantula21 is simple, "Really goes to show they should've just delayed the game another year at least." It's not a contentious point either as so many other users jumped in with the same, or similar conclusion.
Take a look at Phantom Liberty in action below.
One user directly replied to u/Sosantula21, saying, "More like actually two to three years. They've been working on this expansion and all these changes for the past two to three years." The user is, of course, referring to the 2.0 update which overhauled much of the game just before the launch of the game's only DLC, Phantom Liberty.

The update changed so much that the developers recommended starting the game from the start to really see the changes. So many users are happy they waited until now to play. u/Risingtoward is "f**king loving it". They say they're "engrossed in the story" but also compliment the graphics and the core gameplay.
"Yeah, it's a genuinely great game now," says u/Eruannster, who played Cyberpunk 2077 at launch and says "it was ... certainly something. I played for maybe 10 hours before I gave up."
Personally, I skipped Cyberpunk 2077 at launch due to the sheer number of complaints, so on reading this Reddit thread I couldn't help but agree. The game has experienced two resurgences thus far; one when Edgerunners released on Netflix and wowed viewers, and then most recently with update 2.0. As far as I'm concerned, it's now in a position to be called one of the greatest.
It shows that the game needed a lot more time in the oven. "If the game launched on 1.6 and didn't release on 'old-gen' this could have met expectations," says u/AsheBnarginDalmasca who continued, "2.0 and Phantom Liberty are just the icing on the cake."
