Cyberpunk 2077 is a game that most certainly had a troubled launch but with its first and only expansion on the way with Phantom Liberty, fans of CD Projekt Red are excited for its release.
When Cyberpunk 2077 was released in 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (oh, and Google Stadia), its bubble quickly burst within hours of its arrival. Granted, while not perfect, the PC version of the game was arguably the best of the bunch, as long as you had a capable system. However, it was a totally different story for PS4 and Xbox One.

Sony considered the state of Cyberpunk 2077 to be so below par, that it removed the sci-fi RPG from sale via its digital store. Thankfully, it would return in 2021, though it was still far from a perfect game. Over time following many substantial patches, Cyberpunk 2077 is now pretty much the game it was always promised to be. Well, at least on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Hopefully with the bad times now in the rear-view mirror, CD Projekt Red announced Phantom Liberty in 2022. The expansion would not only add a new area to Night City but also new missions, abilities and much more. We’re even being treated to Idris Elba starring as the brooding Solomon Reed.
During Summer Game Fest, we got to see plenty of Phantom Liberty in action, further building up the hype for the expansion. Then at Gamescom Opening Night Live, ‘Update 2.0’ was announced that would launch alongside Phantom Liberty (or so we thought).
Update 2.0 will improve enemy AI during combat, as well as the AI of the Night City Police Department. It will also add a new Relic skill tree and make various quality-of-life improvements. Best of all, this update is available to everyone who owns Cyberpunk 2077 for free, regardless of whether you purchase the expansion or not.
Obviously, with the arrival of Phantom Liberty and Update 2.0 on the horizon, it should be a time of jubilation for fans. Unfortunately, a PC expert has predicted potential doom for those who download the update and has warned that it may break your PC. Yikes!

As reported by DSOgaming, a tweet was shared by Filip Pierściński, who just so happens to be the lead scene programmer at CDPR. So if there’s anyone’s word that you should trust on this matter, it's this guy.
Pierściński warns that due to the high demands of the upcoming expansion and update, GPUs and CPUs will be working overtime. “Before the release of Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.0 and Phantom Liberty, please check the conditions of your cooling systems on your PC,” he said.

Pierściński continued to warn that the workload of the CPU on 8 Core will be as high as 90% which could cause PCs to overheat and has urged followers to check their systems for stability before running the update and expansion.
In related news, CD Projekt Red’s sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 may not be as far away as we expected, and the sci-fi RPG has now surpassed half a million positive reviews on Steam.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty will be released on 27 September for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
