Prepare yourselves. A little over two years on from Cyberpunk 2077’s disastrous release, a sequel is on the way and CD Projekt RED is seemingly looking to expand its staff numbers to get more developers working on it.
By this point, everyone knows the drill with Cyberpunk 2077. After being incredibly hyped up by fans, the title that players were greeted with back in December 2020 didn’t meet expectations, to put it lightly. The game was riddled with glitches and bugs, to the point where you had to wonder how it’d even been allowed to release. Thankfully though, things were eventually ironed out, and now loads of gamers do genuinely enjoy everything the title has to offer.
Cyberpunk 2077’s DLC expansion, Phantom Liberty, is releasing later this year. Take a look below.
Last October, it was announced that CD Projekt RED is already working on a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, codenamed Project Orion. We know pretty much nothing about it, but the studio is currently accepting spontaneous applications from developers who’d be interested in bringing the game to life. The page encourages applicants to “drop your CV for the future”, so it doesn’t sound like any hires will be taken on instantly.

Back when the sequel was first announced, the vice president and chief financial officer of CD Projekt, Piotr Nielubowicz, said: “Our plans are certainly ambitious, and call for a great deal of work, dedication and further growth. This is why we’re setting up a new team in Boston, which, together with the expanding Vancouver team, will form our new studio – CD PROJEKT RED North America. As a result, we will be able to fully tap into the North American talent pool.”
Chances are, we’ll be waiting some time before we see anything of the sequel, but let’s hope that it has a better time at launch than the first game did.
