It’s another year, which means that it’s another Call of Duty game gracing our presence once more.
Since its inception in 2003, Call of Duty games have been released on a nearly yearly basis. Seriously, that’s a lot of Call of Duty and we’re not even talking about spin-off games. The exception to the yearly rule was between 2003 and 2005 with the releases of Call of Duty 2 and 3, respectively.
Check out the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III gameplay trailer below!
This year we’ll be treated to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, a reimagining of the 2011 game and the conclusion of the rebooted trilogy that began in 2019. Modern Warfare III will bring its typical high-octane single player campaign, a robust multiplayer mode, an all-new open-world Zombies and much more.

Prior to its official reveal, there was speculation that Modern Warfare III originally began its life as an expansion to Modern Warfare II (2022), before it morphed into its own standalone game. Sure, this might put off some, but until we get our hands on the game, we won't know for sure whether it's a proper full experience or not.
If Modern Warfare III had started life as an expansion, a plus side would be that it's a reason why progression stats from MWII multiplayer as well as DLC are carrying over into MWIII, a first for the series. Hopefully, stats and DLC carrying over will become common practice from here on out. Another rumour that had been floating around is that Modern Warfare III will have remastered maps from Modern Warfare 2 (2009), which was later confirmed to be true.
In relation to the remastered maps, a Call of Duty insider, namely the Twitter fan page ModernWarzone, claims that the remastered maps have some deviations. In particular, some buildings will have doors. We assume they mean new doors that will allow us to enter previously inaccessible buildings.
ComicBook also reported that maps set in the daytime, could now be turned to night. If true, I’m all for those subtle deviations. For example, there are loads of buildings in Favela that you can't enter. So it would be nice to go for a little wander before being shot in the back with a shotgun.

In related news, the beta dates for the multiplayer of Modern Warfare III have now been confirmed, and Lara Croft is in a Call of Duty game. Yes, you heard that right.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will be released on 10 November 2023 for PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
