What appears to be our first look at gameplay from Infinity Ward's upcoming Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has found its way online ahead of an official reveal.
Activision and Infinity Ward confirmed the long-rumoured existence of a sequel to 2019's Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare earlier this year, with a full reveal expected in June. But as is almost always the way in this industry, leaks have occurred.
It's worth noting that the leaked footage may not 100% be the real deal, but multiple prominent YouTubers and industry insiders seem to think it's on the level. Beyond that, Activision is pulling the footage wherever it pops up, which ironically usually serves as complete confirmation.
It's unclear exactly what mode this leaked footage is from, and it doesn't really give an awful lot away. Others have suggested it may even be from the in-development Call Of Duty: Warzone 2, rather than Modern Warfare 2, but this is unconfirmed.

You can find a mirrored version of the gameplay clip here, although be advised that the quality isn't anything to write home about.
According to reliable Call Of Duty insider Tom Henderson, the footage we're seeing is actually quite old, dating back to an earlier build of the game from late 2021.
"For additional context, the images/videos are from around November/December of last year... Not recently," Henderson tweeted "So looking on the brighter side, it looks pretty good for a game that still has a year of development."
According to earlier leaks (because there is always a leak), Modern Warfare 2 will be set in Latin America and see players embark on a mission to take down a drug cartel. Infinity Ward apparently has plans to go big with this new Call Of Duty campaign, in a story that could see characters live or die based on your choices.

It's also been suggested a remastered multiplayer mode for the original 2009 Modern Warfare 2 will launch as part of the 2022 Modern Warfare 2. In the same way 2019's Modern Warfare remastered classic maps and weapons from the original Modern Warfare, expect the likes of Rust and Terminal to end up in the 2022 shooter.
We should know more for certain next month.
