It would be easy to forget about the iconic horror series BioShock, considering it has been over 10 years since its last release with the critically acclaimed BioShock Infinite in 2013.

In 2019, publisher 2K announced that it was officially working on a fourth mainline entry in its BioShock series but unlike previous games, the fourth game will not be developed by Irrational Games led by Ken Levine. It will instead be developed by the new studio, Cloud Chamber.

However, Ken Levine is creating a very BioShock-inspired game called Judas led by his new studio, Ghost Story Games. We also have a Bioshock movie adaptation from Netflix to look forward to.

At the time of writing, BioShock 4 does not have a release date. When 2K announced that the next Bioshock was in the works it said that it would be spending the “next several years” in production, hinting at this current generation.

While we wait for whenever the next BioShock arrives, we can at least take a glimpse into the future giving us a hint of what it may look like. YouTuber noodlespagoodle has recreated a section of the underwater utopia known as Rapture powered by Unreal Engine 5 and this fanmade remake looks gorgeous.

The video which is a playable build is one of the best things we’ve seen related to this iconic series in years and if BioShock 4 looks even better than this, we’ll be in for a treat. The Unreal Engine 5 playable demo also features cats, for some reason.

Sadly, this playable build will not be made public to avoid the wrath of the 2K and Take-Two Interactive lawyers. Hopefully, 2K will provide details on the development of BioShock 4 in the coming months and we’ll of course keep you posted when those details arrive.
