The Assassin’s Creed franchise has taken us everywhere from the 1191 Holy Land to 1789 France with stops at Ancient Egypt, Victorian London and the Renaissance along the way. With the series priding itself on its historical accuracy, we don’t yet know how Ubisoft would handle a title set during World War 2.
However, thanks to one creator, we can now get a taste at what it will be like. Youtuber TeaserPlay is no stranger to creating incredible fan made trailers for some much-needed games. Having dabbled in creations for an open-world Breaking Bad game as well as a Bioshock title set in Paris, they have brought life to many games we can only dream of. This is the case for their take on Assassin’s Creed: World War 2 created on Unreal Engine 5.

The trailer takes place in Paris during World War 2 and opens with a shot of the Eiffel Tower looming over the city as sirens blare in the distance. We then get our first glimpse at the unnamed assassin as they perch on the rooftops before leaping into the fray. After taking down a few soldiers, the trailer ends with an epic sprint towards their leader before the assassin leaps on top of them and the screen fades to black.

A glimpse of gameplay as well as a look at 1940s Paris has already got players excited and wishing Ubisoft would make the concept a reality. “The coolest part of Assassin’s Creed Unity was playing during WW2. I really hope down the line they make a WW2 AC game,” read one comment. Another read, “I've been saying for the longest that Ubisoft has to do their own version of The Saboteur. The free running, the combat and the story of freedom fighters going up against Nazi (Templars).”
With Ubisoft already busy with the next couple of instalments in the Assassin’s Creed franchise including Assassin’s Creed Hexe and Codename Red, it could be a while until we see an instalment similar to this fan creation. However, if it does indeed happen, it already has quite the strong backing.
