Assassin’s Creed Unity gets a totally gorgeous new-gen overhaul for the once-troubled game.
When Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Unity was released in 2014, it had it rough. The game suffered with reported bugs and glitches and even had issues connecting to the online Uplay server. In fairness, some might argue that AC Unity had an unfair reputation.
During the time of its release, the same set of glitch face images was being shared across social media, giving the impression that this was perhaps more common than it actually was. Personally, I put a lot of hours into Assassin’s Creed Unity, and despite encountering some bugs, it was nothing to the extent then I was led to believe.
Nearly 10 years have now passed since the launch of Assassin’s Creed Unity (yes, it’s really been that long), and as we should expect, the game is in a much better state now. What’s more, the game still looks good to this day and runs at a smooth 60fps on Xbox Series X|S. Some fans even claim that AC Unity is still the best-looking game in the series.

However, as reported by Wccfech, Assassin’s Creed Unity is now looking better than ever, thanks to a gorgeous PC mod. The mod in question is called ‘4K Story Characters’ and it pretty much does exactly what it says on the tin.
The mod adds 4K textures to the games leading characters, Arno, Elilse, Bellec, Mirabeau, Germain, Rouille, Sivert, Sophie Trenet, and much more. In total, the mod comes in at a fairly modest 1.8GB and is available to download via Nexusmods.
Naturally, with this being a mod, it is only available for PC. That being said, as I mentioned earlier, AC Unity looks extra snazzy and smooth on Xbox Series X|S. It is also backwards compatible with PS5.
Assassin’s Creed Unity is out now for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. In related news, Ubisoft has confirmed that the Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag sequel is absolutely massive.
