At long last, it finally seems that we know (roughly) when Assassin’s Creed Mirage might be coming out. Which is a massive relief, given that it only has seven months of the calendar left before it misses its 2023 target.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is set in ninth century Baghdad, and will follow Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Basim as he learns to become a master assassin. The title will be bringing stealth gameplay back to the series, which can only be a good thing.
Take a look at the trailer for Assassin’s Creed Mirage below.
Although the game was given a vague 2023 release window back when it was first announced, it was recently claimed by a dataminer that it could end up being delayed due to the title apparently running on the “‘old’ Assassin’s Creed engine”. This, combined with a preorder hiccup which temporarily affected a number of fans, raised a number of question marks over the game’s release, and whether its development is going smoothly.

Thankfully though, it seems that these concerns may have been for naught. Over on the r/GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, one user, who works at a GameStop store, claims to have access to the marketing information for a number of upcoming games. Amongst these is Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which, according to them, is slated for release in August this year. They claim that this is different from a previous placeholder release window of December 2023.
Obviously, at the time of writing, these claims are totally unverified, and even if the user really does work for GameStop and has access to the marketing information, it could still be listed incorrectly within the system. Another user in the thread who supposedly previously worked for the company wrote: “At least internally, GS consistently messed up quite a few release dates in their item system. We also had frequent marketing mistakes in the last few months I was there - e.g. when we got marketing materials in February, they swapped [Bayonetta] Origins and the new Kirby game's release dates.”
It’s also a bit strange to narrow it down to August - which is in just three months - without giving a specific date. With all that in mind, definitely take this with a pinch of salt for now, but hopefully we hear something official soon.
