The upcoming Assassin’s Creed game, Mirage, has truly been living up to its name in the months since its reveal. Although it’s currently set to release at some point this year, we still don’t know exactly when it’s coming out.
Mirage will take place in ninth century Baghdad and star Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Basim as he learns to become a master assassin. Stealth gameplay is set to make a return, and it’s about time, too. However, things have been getting increasingly concerning for fans since Ubisoft is yet to reveal a single morsel of gameplay, and rumours have been circulating which suggest that the game could be hit with a delay.
Take a look at the trailer for Assassin’s Creed Mirage below.
Now though, we finally have some gameplay to look at, it seems. Over on Reddit, a three second clip of supposed Mirage gameplay (posted in the worst video quality you’ve seen in your life) has been doing the rounds, and although you wouldn’t think that such a short clip would do anything to excite fans, they’ve been going wild.

While I won’t be linking to the leak here, to paint the picture for you, it shows Basim running up a path - there are a few NPCs around, and it appears as though he could venturing through the outskirts of the city. Notably, there’s some lovely detail to be seen in the movement of his clothing, and he can be seen kicking up sand behind him.
“I love the weight to his steps. Oh that Unity-esque animation. Unity parkour with weight? Good god,” Reddit user thebirdof_hermes wrote. “The most striking thing here is clearly the movement. Besides Basim's moves, look at the NPCs. It looks like they're actually moving their knees up and then bringing their leg down to make a step. Not just this ‘floaty’ movement that we're used to. Besides, it looks like cloth physics are back. Not just for us, but for the NPCs as well. Think we're in for a great time,” Hiperonn commented. “It’s so lush and green and vibrant holy sh*t,” added VenturerKnigtmare420.
Unfortunately, as real as this clip looks, there’s absolutely nothing to prove that it’s genuinely from Assassin’s Creed Mirage - it’s so short that it could be fan-made. With that in mind, do take this with a big pinch of salt for now.
