Mighty Koi Studio has announced Thorgal, a brand new action-adventure RPG based on the comic book series of the same name by Jean Van Hamme and Grzegorz Rosinski.
If you’re not familiar with the Thorgal comics, it’s a fantasy-adventure series, blending together tales of Norse mythology with myths from Atlantis.
You may recall that the series actually got a game adaptation back in 2002 with Cryo Interactive Entertainment’s Thorgal: Curse of Atlantis.

It was commercially a failure so you may also be sitting there thinking, “No, it doesn’t ring a bell,” and I couldn’t argue with that.
Thorgal now returns to the gaming world once more though, and this latest effort is looking a lot more promising.
Take a look at the brand new trailer for Thorgal below.
“Embark on an epic adventure as the legendary Viking warrior, Thorgal Aegirsson! Dive deep into Norse mythology as you navigate through a rich and immersive world filled with perilous enemies and ancient gods,” the synopsis teases.

“As Thorgal, you'll face off against human and divine foes, all while unraveling the mysteries of your enigmatic past.”
The game is being created in Unreal Engine 5, with the new cinematic trailer setting a dark and chilling tone.
It’s certainly not one to watch if you’re afraid of snakes, which just so happens to include me. I watched it though. Aren’t I brave?
As reported by IGN, Mighty Koi further added that players would encounter “dangerous bandits, formidable monsters and invincible gods - but also powerful allies” throughout their journey.

With its incorporation of Norse mythology, Thorgal should appeal to those who enjoy Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and God of War.
I also think it would be fair to say that the game’s dark fantasy elements should scratch the itch of those who are fans of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
Thorgal doesn’t yet have a release date with details being very thin on the ground following its announcement.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on this project though.
