The recent Game Awards saw the announcement of an upcoming open-world sci-fi game that will be perfect for fans of Assassin’s Creed and Cyberpunk 2077.
Titled Last Sentinel, the new triple-A open-world game is the brainchild of Lightspeed LA, a studio headed by former Rockstar veteran Steve Martin. He will be joined alongside developers who have worked at Naughty Dog and Respawn and Last Sentinel is set to be their debut title.
Check out the Last Sentinel trailer below!
Set in a dystopian Tokyo, fans were treated to a sneak peek trailer which looked like an orphanage and its cyborg caretakers under attack. However, before the attackers can get too close to the children, a motorbike-cladded “demon” arrives and swiftly overpowers the enemies. The trailer ends with the savior revealing herself as Hiromi Shoda and she is there to rescue the children and the human-like androids.

Although leaving viewers desperate for more, that is all we know about Last Sentinel so far and we are unsure on either a release date or which platforms it will be released on.
What we do know is that Last Sentinel was reported to be in development back in January 2022 but despite almost two years under its belt, there is still not too much to know. Despite that, we do know that Lightspeed LA have promised a unique take on the cyberpunk genre with a unique story, cast and gameplay experience.
This was not the only announcement at 2023’s Game Awards with news that Hideo Kojima would be teaming up with Nope and Get Out director Jordan Peele for a horror game “unlike any other”. By utilising Xbox’s Cloud technology, the game is set to be immersive and scarily realistic but it will also be a while until we hear more.
Until then, with Cyberpunk 2077 officially done, it will be interesting to see what Last Sentinel will do with the genre when it releases sometime in the future.
