According to a recent leak from an industry insider, we could be getting a new live-action Assassin’s Creed movie soon
But it would seem the news comes at a bit of a cost, as another Assassin’s Creed project has been put on hold in its place.
Thank you in advance to TechCrawlr (per DanielRPK) for the source!

So, first things first: this news comes from DanielRPK, a well-known leaker, over on his Patreon. You won’t be able to access said leak unless you fancy paying a monthly fee, but luckily for you, others have already repeated said leaks online.
Details are pretty sparse regarding the new live-action movie. According to DanielRPK, it’s very much in the pre-production phase, so that means that no actors have been cast and no release dates are currently being targeted.
DanielRPK did attach a little addendum to the leak however. Although a new live-action Assassin’s Creed film is in the works, it would appear that the Netflix live-action series has currently been put “on hold”.
If you didn’t know that a live-action Netflix Assassin’s Creed series was in the works, then I don’t blame you for that because they announced this bloody thing almost five years ago. I honestly forgot it was even in the works.

Given that Ubisoft seem to be struggling a little at the moment, it does make perfect sense that they’re pushing for some kind of new Assassin’s Creed project in light of the Netflix series being delayed. They want some of that sweet cross-media synergy to bolster their video game sales.
Here’s hoping that they actually decide to adapt the plot of the video games this time around though, instead of just inventing some new faceless nobody like they did for the last Assassin’s Creed film.
Just put Ezio in a live-action film, and you’ll make 500 million dollars. It’s just that easy, guys.
