If the rumours are to be believed, a new-gen remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is on the way, and fans have one big wish for it. Please, Ubisoft, just keep the sea shanties.
In case you missed it, the remake rumours surfaced earlier this week courtesy of two anonymous sources (via Kotaku). It’s claimed that the game is in its “earliest stages” of development, and that a team at Ubisoft Singapore (the same studio currently working on Ubisoft’s other pirate game, Skull and Bones) will be involved.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is set to release on 12 October - take a look at the trailer below.
At the time of writing, Ubisoft hasn’t officially confirmed that the remake is actually happening, but that’s not stopping anyone from getting cautiously excited. However, on Reddit, Assassin's Creed fans are just praying that the excellent original soundtrack, composed by Brian Tyler, will be left intact.

“If [Ubisoft] is really remaking Black Flag, they better leave the OST alone,” Reddit user ValiantKnight666 said. “Seriously[,] Brian Tyler is hella underrated (many of us won't even know who he is). The OST is amazing (in my opinion, the best of the series). I still hum the Spanish Empire song randomly. [Ubisoft] can of course add more shanties accurate to the time period.”
Others feel the same: “Most of the music in that game is ingrained in my memory so I wouldn't have it any other way,” Mountain_Sir2307 wrote. “Brian Tyler made 2012-2013 for me. […] He is seriously underrated,” Ulysses3 agreed. “I have ‘Billy Riley’ as my ringtone,” added IchStrickeGerne.
Earlier this year, an official Black Flag sequel was released in the form of Assassin’s Creed: Forgotten Temple - a WEBTOON series following Edward Kenway’s story along the coasts of the Southeast Asian seas. I don’t think that it was the follow-up anyone was expecting, but it’s still pretty cool.
