Assassin's Creed Black Flag remake 2025 release date leaks

Assassin's Creed Black Flag remake 2025 release date leaks

Additional details on the rumoured remake have landed

Ubisoft’s rumoured remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag has once again surfaced, with the project seemingly set to land sooner than expected.

To bring you up to speed, Ubisoft has confirmed that it’s working on several Assassin’s Creed remakes, although no specific titles have yet formally been announced.

However, it was in January of last year that whispers began doing the rounds that the beloved Black Flag was first in line for an overhaul.

Insider Gaming later reported that it was seemingly this remake that would release next following Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Of course, that title is yet to launch having been delayed twice from its original November 2024 launch date. The game is now scheduled to land in March.

Even still, if this rumour is true, it stands to reason that Black Flag could launch towards the end of this year or in early 2026.

And now the plot thickens further, as MP1ST claims to have acquired additional information on exactly what we can expect from the remake.

ICYMI: Take a look at Assassin’s Creed Shadows in action below.

In a new report, MP1ST say that the Black Flag remake will “be more than just a visual upgrade”, explaining that the game’s various mechanics and features have been overhauled too.

The report claims that the remake will feature “new systems, with combat and ecosystems around wildlife specifically mentioned”.

Admittedly, that doesn’t give us much to go on as it could mean a lot of different things, but it clearly shows that this isn’t a quick and simple cash grab from Ubisoft.

If there’s one conclusion to be drawn it’s that seemingly, the developers of the remake have an ambition for the scale of this game that extends beyond what we received in the original release, and that’s very exciting.

I fear it may be a while until Ubisoft officially lifts the lid on this one as it’s not going to want to detract from the attention on the upcoming Shadows.

Still, MP1ST remains optimistic about a release date as early as November 2025, so perhaps we could expect an announcement at this summer’s Ubisoft Forward, with a release planned for just a few months later.

Fair to say, I think we’re all very excited to reunite with Edward Kenway.
