Ubisoft hasn’t had the easiest ride as of late.
Star Wars Outlaws is, if you ask me, a pretty decent game but yes, it has its flaws - and those flaws led to some rather underwhelming sales.
Disappointed by those sales, Ubisoft looked set to change its fortunes with Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

This highly anticipated instalment is set to finally take players to Feudal Japan, a location many have longed to explore for quite some time.
Recently though, the game was pushed back from its 15 November release date with Assassin’s Creed Shadows now targeting a 14 February 2025 launch.
Developers hope that this will allow them to “polish and refine the experience”, presumably to avoid the game from replicating Outlaws’ rather mediocre rollout.
Fair to say, Ubisoft could do with catching a break - as could fans of the studio.

Well, perhaps such an uptick is just around the corner. The long-rumoured Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake is reportedly nearing completion.
ICYMI: Take a look at Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ gameplay trailer below.
While Ubisoft is yet to formally announce a remake of the beloved Black Flag, such a project has been heavily rumoured for quite some time.

Now, Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson is claiming that the launch of the remake is much closer than we think.
Insider Gaming has taken this information from documentation sent to them “under the condition that it does not go public”.
The documentation reportedly reveals that the Black Flag remake was due to launch in November of 2025, with the project known by the codename Obsidian.
This would supposedly coincide with the release of the franchise’s multiplayer instalment, codenamed Invictus.

It’s believed that Ubisoft is planning to launch around 10 Assassin’s Creed experiences in the next five years.
Some of those will be the console games we know and love, while others will be smaller experiences like the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Jade for mobile - believed to be launching in Q2 2025.
In an internal email though to staff, Ubisoft’s Marc-Alexis Côte reportedly said that Shadows’ delay “will also impact the rest of the Assassin’s Creed roadmap”.
This could therefore mean that Black Flag is pushed beyond its November 2025 targeted launch window.

Even if it’s pushed into early 2026 though, this project is leaps and bounds ahead of where we all assumed.
It goes without saying that all of this should be taken with a pinch of salt until anything is confirmed by Ubisoft but in this case, I’d imagine it’s a case of there’s no smoke without fire.
