You’ve probably heard the word ‘hack’ more times this week than perhaps you’re used to. As I’m sure you’re aware, Rockstar Games suffered a major hack just a few days ago, during which, a large quantity of Grand Theft Auto VI development footage was released. Uber also fell victim to a hack with the company suggesting it could be the same group behind the GTA leaks. Well, the stream of bad luck isn’t over. 2K Games are the latest to be hit by a cyber attack.

The news was announced by the 2K Support Twitter account which warned customers of the breach. According to 2K, the hackers have sent out support emails to some 2K customers which contain dangerous malware links.

The tweet reads: “Earlier today, we became aware that an unauthorised third party illegally accessed the credentials of one of our vendors to the help desk platform that 2K uses to provide support to our customers. The unauthorised party sent a communication to certain players containing a malicious link. Please do not open any emails or click on any links that you receive from the 2K Games Support account.”

Hey folks, please read an important message from our Customer Support team. Thank you. pic.twitter.com/yKI18eL7mY

If users have clicked on the link, they are advised to reset any passwords stored in their web browser, enable multi-factor authentication, install and run an antivirus programme, and check account settings to see if anything has been changed.

2K apologised for the inconvenience and advised customers that for now, their customer help desk would remain offline while the issue is investigated.
