With GTA VI on the horizon, discussion has moved to the pricing of the game after an industry analyst commented on the upcoming launch.
We reported yesterday that Matthew Ball believed that Rockstar Games could charge as much as $100 for the game to “save” the video game industry.
Could GTA 6 break the $70 price cap?
This has fans worried, as not only would it price many people out of the chance to play a highly anticipated game, but it would set a precedent for other companies to follow suit.

On Reddit, players are discussing the idea and expressing some great points.
“Raising game prices even further just means that a lot of people (me included) are just gonna buy less games and hurt the industry more,” said Animegamingnerd.
They have a point, should Rockstar Games make this move with GTA VI, and others matched it, more people would simply wait for sales.
“$100 games would kill the industry,” claims TimidPanther.

This conversation has many asking an important question - would the increase deliver better games?
“With the current state most games ship these days, there's absolutely no way I'm spending 100 on any game regardless of its developer,” says MrHabbz.
And, of course, the cost of living is impacting so many that it was bound to be raised as a concern.
Deuenskae mentions this, “They realize that most people have less and less money after paying rent and food?”

A major concern is how that money would be allocated. Is it going to developers? Or lining the pockets of an already wealthy CEO?
Makorus highlights this by saying, “In a perfect world, it would definitely help the industry as a whole. In our dystopian world where CEOs are ghouls? Nah.”
That’s a resounding ‘no, thanks’ from gamers, but only time will tell if Rockstar Games and Take-Two choose to capitalise on the idea.
