10 free brand-new Steam downloads to try right now

From dinosaurs to Lovecraftian doctors

It is that time again.

It is time to celebrate all that Steam has to offer by showcasing some titles that are not only incredible but are also available to try out at no extra cost.

So if you are a PC gamer and you are eager for something new to play ahead of its full release, then this list is guaranteed to have something that captures your interest.

Without further ado, let’s dive into them.

First up is Nomad Idle, an idle roguelite game “about killing hordes of enemies, becoming stronger, and exploring an unfolding storyline”.

Designed to never end, Nomad Idle features an expansive storyline, impactful decisions and various gameplay features which increase in difficulty as you progress.

Create your own build, discover, craft and upgrade your equipment and even conjure summons to help you in battle.

Speaking of roguelites, Void War is yet another one up for grabs.

Combine strategy and powerful artifacts to fend off attacks from demented cultists as you command an ancient starship and fight your way to the heart of a dying Empire.

With craven space pirates and xenophobic Imperial soldiers to defeat, it is up to you to discover powerful artifacts and use them to upgrade your ship into a fearsome war engine.

Do No Harm/
Darts Games

If you are a fan of Lovecraftian horror then you will love Do No Harm.

In this medical sim, you will take on the role of a strange doctor who must diagnose patients with unsettling symptoms.

Using your Book of Medicine, you must make moral choices and decide who gets to live or die and better yet, decide who you can trust.

With multiple endings to discover, do you have what it takes to endure 30 days on the job?

Fans of Red Dead Redemption and Jurassic Park should try Dino Path Trail.

In this action roguelike that is set in a time where dinosaurs never faced extinction, players must journey across the Wild West.

With the apex predators on your tail, you must survive the wilderness, battle the elements, evade predators, and confront bandits in order to save your sister.

Inspired by classic JRPGs, Old Hero is a 15 hour turn-based strategy experience where players will face short and snappy battles, zero tutorials, random encounters, quirky dialogue, and more.

Designed to be short but sweet whilst also maintaining all the best features of an RPG, this retro-inspired title is guaranteed to capture the nostalgia of childhood without all the faff.

Obscuro Blossom’s Glow is perhaps the cutest game on this list and perfect for those waiting for Hollow Knight: Silksong.

In this platforming and puzzle adventure, players will take on the role of Selene who has the ability to absorb and emit light from various flowers.

With this ability, she is able to unlock mechanisms, overcome obstacles, and navigate through beautiful environments as you take on crucial decisions which will shape the fate of an entire planetary system.

It’s all about survival this week as my next recommendation is Iron Convoy.

In this post-apocalyptic turn-based survival game, you will use tactics to lead your convoy, battle enemies, scavenge resources and make difficult decisions in order to ensure everyone's safety.

In a wasteland where only the strong survive, you must not only worry about a hazardous environment but also the rival factions who would love to steal your resources.

“"You are not the savior of these lands. You are the master of your convoy, a leader who will stop at nothing to dominate the wasteland." - Emperor Madal.”

Fans of Undertale should keep an eye out for NONEWORLD, an interactive action RPG which tells the story of a lost princess and her omnipresent fluffy companion.

You will have to explore a destroyed kingdom from a forgotten time as our princess attempts to piece together the strange world around her.

With Undertale-esque art, this RPG with two different endings and unique gameplay features is guaranteed to be a standout 2025 release.

Next is Chronoquartz.

This time-loop adventure game is set in a world where every move matters.

Keep hold of your abilities and knowledge as you solve puzzles, uncover secrets, and most importantly, stop a dark mage from stealing the Chronoquartz.

Will you have what it takes to save the world before time runs out for good?

Abyssal Wrath/
Indibutable

Last but certainly not least is Abyssal Wrath, a “frenetic” and “merciless” top-down shooter set in an eldritch sci-fi universe.

You will take on the role of a young woman who has found her home in an industrial complex but with the higher-ups taking the lower-class citizens from the slums in order to experiment on them, she wants nothing more than revenge.

When a revolt leads to her death, it isn’t long before she is contacted by a dark entity who has an offer to make: Life and vengeance for bloodshed.

Now our protagonist has just one goal.

To make them bleed.
