Xbox Announces Handy New Twitch Integration

I’m just going to say it, this is Xbox’s year, isn’t it? On top of everything else they already had going for themselves, Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision is undoubtedly going to see so many games brought over to Game Pass, and maybe even old IPs revived. Basically, Xbox users are going to have even more reason to be happy, and there’s almost certainly going to be a whole load of people giving the console a go if they hadn’t already.

Well, just to add a bit more fuel to Microsoft's fire then, it’s been officially announced that Xbox users are getting a much easier way to livestream from their consoles, thanks to brand new Twitch integration. This is on Xbox One as well as Series X/S, by the way, so you can rejoice even if you haven’t managed to bag yourself a new-gen console yet. This integration, which has been available to testers for a while now, will allow users to access Twitch directly via the Xbox menu.

As reported by ScreenRant, to access this for yourself, all you’ll need to do is go to ‘Capture and Share’ on the guide, and then ‘Live Streaming’. Then, you’ll be able to link your Twitch account, either using a QR code, or manually using a URL, if the former doesn’t work for you for whatever reason. After that, you’ll be able to select ‘Go Live Now’ to stream any game on your console. You'll also be able to manage the audio levels both for your game and mic, and show a pause screen if you decide to change up games mid-stream.

As cool as it is, Twitch integration isn’t exactly anything new - the PS5 has had the option since its launch in 2020, and even its predecessor, the PS4, had it before then, too. That said, it was also once available on the Xbox One, too, but got removed back in 2017, so it’s not that this is Xbox’s first rodeo. Don’t get me wrong though, it’s not a competition (as much as some on the internet would like to make you think so) - it’s just really neat that more people have an easier streaming option now.
