Wolverine getting the R-rated series he deserves

Wolverine getting the R-rated series he deserves

Another gory Red Band Edition awaits us

I have a feeling that we’re going to be seeing plenty more of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe following the success of last year’s Deadpool & Wolverine.

That being said, there’s nothing yet to confirm when or where the character will next show up.

It’s assumed he may play an important role in Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars, the former of which is due to land next year but that’s simply an educated guess from Marvel fans.

In the meantime though, there is a wealth of Wolverine-centric content to consume in the world of Marvel Comics.

Ultimate Wolverine is a brutal new take on the character, and I urge you to pick up that series if you can but it’s not what I’m here to highlight today.

In a new exclusive preview by ComicBook, the lid has been lifted on the upcoming Wolverine: Revenge #4, and this fantastic R-rated series continues to electrify us with its twists and turns.

ICYMI: MCU fans can next look forward to Captain America: Brave New World which launches on 14 February.

Wolverine: Revenge #4 brings back Old Man Logan in a new story that comes from Jonathan Hickman and Greg Capullo.

We find ourselves 20 years on from the moment Wolverine exacted revenge on Omega Red, Sabretooth, Deadpool, and Colossus.

While the preview offers little in the way of a hint as to where this story is going, we know that Logan will find himself in Light’s Shadow, a western-inspired town known as ‘The Territory of the People’.

As for the official synopsis, that reads as follows: “Time has passed since Wolverine’s quest for vengeance began. But as an eye for an eye escalates through the years, revenge becomes a family affair! And this is going to be one hell of a reunion!”

If the R-rated blood and gore is what you’re here for, then make sure you pick up Wolverine: Revenge #4 - Red Band Edition as that’s the version that’s polybagged to contain its explicit depictions.

The regular version of Wolverine: Revenge #4 will dial back that violence a tad to make it less visceral if that’s what you prefer.

This issue will become available on Wednesday 22 January, wherever you get your comic books, and it sounds like it’s not one to miss.
