Big games, particularly sequels, always get fans speculating on theories and ideas. It’s a part of all entertainment, but particularly gaming.
As we’ve had The Witcher 3 in our lives for some time, and we’re setting off on the long road to its sequel, theories are swirling around about what the game will feature. Oddly, one of the leading theories is coming from Doug Cockle, the voice of Geralt himself.
The Witcher 3 has become one of the most popular games of all-time.
There is little to no information about The Witcher 4 currently, but that hasn’t stopped Cockle from talking about it in recent interviews. Speaking to IGN, Cockle has stressed that he doesn’t know any direct information about the project, currently codenamed ‘Polaris’. Cockle has confirmed that the series will be moving away from Geralt and heading out into new adventures with unknown characters, starting a new trilogy of games.

His theory is that Ciri, one of the fan favourites from The Witcher 3, could become the main focus of the new game. The actor points to the series of books as his source of information, plus the playable scenes with Ciri in the most recent game, believing that CD Projekt RED may be looking to pass the torch onto her.
"Their focus for the game is not going to be Geralt. They've said that, so I'm really excited to see what their focus is. I have ideas but that's all they are," Cockle said. "The best theory I've heard, because it does make sense, is the theory that they'll focus on Ciri in her adventures in some way, shape, or form.”
Fans have always loved Ciri and the cast surrounding Geralt. This move would be one that could help fans move on from playing as Geralt as it wouldn’t pull the rug from under us as violently as switching to people we’ve never heard of. Plus, Geralt could still appear as a side-character, keeping Cockle in the job for a lot longer.
