Elliot Page has confirmed that his character will be coming out as transgender in the upcoming third season of The Umbrella Academy.
Page shared a picture himself as Viktor Hargreeves on his Twitter account, which Netflix quote-tweeted with: “Welcome to the family, Viktor — we’re so happy you’re here.”
Page came out as transgender back in 2020. "I can't begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self," he wrote in a statement at the time.

The news was with an outpouring of support from colleagues, castmates, and fans. Netflix instantly confirmed that Page would continue to play Hargreeves in The Umbrella Academy, adding that they were "so proud" of their superhero.
Fans had been hoping that the superhero show would reflect and honour Page's real-life transition, so the reveal of Viktor has been massively welcomed by viewers.
"Thank you thank you thank you so much for this," wrote one fan. "I was fearing they would kill Vanya off and I didn't even consider a trans storyline. What the hell - I'll see my experience on screen."

"Very happy to see that you were able to portray your identity," another replied. "Not sure how they will cover it in story, but I am hopeful. If they can have a 60 year old ruthless assassin in kid's body then why not a beautiful man being a man?"
The Umbrella Academy season three hits Netflix on June 22.
