We’ve officially got our first-look at the new live-action adaptation of the beloved PlayStation game Until Dawn.

We knew it was coming and were eagerly awaiting this first-look to see how on Earth they could adapt a story that we already knew off-by-heart, and that’s apparently by doing something completely different.

Check out the Until Dawn movie trailer below

The video is only about a minute long and gives us a few teeny-tiny snippets of what’s to come, along with an explanation from the director as to where the story is heading and how it’s being adapted for those who played the game.

It looks interesting to say the least, and it’ll be even more interesting to see how it’ll look on the big-screen.

For those who haven’t played Until Dawn before, it’s about a group of survivors who thought they were in for a relaxing holiday up a snowy mountain, if you can call that a holiday.

They’re descended upon by various threats in the night and it’s up to the player to make crucial, split-second decisions to decide who lives and who dies, which character’s demise being permadeath so in theory you could roll credits far earlier than planned.

You can probably see why people were sceptical on how Sony would turn this into a film, and the solution was apparently to have nothing to do with the game.

The Until Dawn movie will presumably see a group of teens at a summerhouse instead, where they’ll be descended upon by the same, or other threats which I’m guessing anyone could fall victim to, no protagonist armour in this one hopefully.

At the time of writing there’s no release date for the film, but it has been confirmed that another, beefier trailer is on the way, which should shed some more light on the project and when we might get to watch it.
