Star Wars prequel quietly explains major Darth Vader mystery after a decade

Star Wars prequel quietly explains major Darth Vader mystery after a decade

We can finally put this mystery to bed

We’re in the midst of a Star Wars drought, albeit a temporary one.

The Acolyte premiered earlier this year and while I personally thought it was easily the most exciting new Star Wars property in years, it has unfortunately been cancelled - a fact I still struggle to wrap my head around.

Let’s hope that the upcoming Skeleton Crew fares better.

Due to premiere on 3 December, the series centres around four children who make a mysterious discovery on their home planet, sending them on a big adventure.

The series comes from Spider-Man: Homecoming’s Jon Watts and Christopher Ford, so I think it’s fair to say that we should expect a fun, coming-of-age tale.

In the meantime, why don’t we fill the gap by addressing an age-old mystery?

Have you ever wondered how Kylo Ren acquired Darth Vader’s helmet? You’re not alone if you answered ‘yes’.

While the film series may not have addressed this particular mystery, there is a definitive answer that can be found in a short story.

The Perfect Weapon by Delilah S. Dawson was published shortly before the release of The Force Awakens in 2015.

The story follows bounty hunter Bazine Netal who is hired to obtain a case, but it’s never revealed what object is concealed inside.

The going theory is that perhaps this was Vader’s helmet as Netal has known connections to the First Order.

As reported by CBR, Netal is due to collect the case from a stormtrooper who served at the battle of Endor.

This is key as it’s established that Vader’s helmet was last seen on a funeral pyre on Endor in the Star Wars: The Force Awakens Visual Dictionary, adding weight to this theory.

Eventually, Netal gets her hands on the case completing her mission.

Star Wars may be making us jump through hoops to get answers, but at least it appears that we do finally have some.
