Star Wars fans horrified to learn only one Jedi ever actually killed a Sith

Those Jedi were slacking

Star Wars fans have realised just how inefficient the Jedi actually were in the films, based on how many Sith they actually killed.

In fairness, Sith are quite rare and when they do pop up, they tend to operate in twos rather than a whole bunch of them, but throughout the Star Wars films, only one Jedi has actually killed one.

See GAMINGbible’s interview with the cast of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew below.

Turns out that Anakin Skywalker is the only Jedi to kill a Sith on the big screen, when he chopped off Count Dooku’s head at the beginning of Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith.

He did “kill” Palpatine at the end of Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi, but he technically wasn’t a Jedi at the time so it doesn’t really count.

Fans pointed out the inefficiency of the Jedi Order in a Reddit thread, and while some argued that Obi-Wan killed Darth Maul, it’s important to remember he only dismembered him in the films, and when he killed him in Star Wars Rebels, Maul was no longer a Sith.

You could, in theory, argue that Rey killed Palpatine in Star Wars: Rise Of Skywalker, but it’s implied that version of him is a clone of the original so does he still count as the same Sith?

It’s all very confusing and pedantic.

The only other Jedi that really comes close to killing a Sith on-screen is Mace Windu, who also nearly killed Palpatine in their iconic duel, but it’s argued that Palpatine always had the upper-hand and was just waiting for Anakin to do his work for him.

When you look at just the films though, Anakin is the only one who actually killed a Sith.

Ironic because it’s exactly that attitude to murder that sets him on the path to the Dark Side.
