As news comes that a Star Wars film is on hold, you wouldn’t normally expect the fans to be pleased. Unless, the film was due to be made by Taika Waititi.
It seems the community has come together to roast the director and what his film could have been. Which is a shame, but after what Waititi did with the fourth Thor film for Marvel, many don’t want to see him touch Star Wars.
Skeleton Crew is currently showing on Disney+ and we got to talk to Jude Law about it
“God, I want all the other Star Wars movies in development but please for the love of God just cancel this one,” said EwokWarrior3000.

There are actually a fair few Star Wars movies in planning, including one featuring Rey rebuilding the Jedi Order.
However, most are slow in production, which could be seen as a good thing after the disaster that was Rise of Skywalker.
ObiWanLamora comments, “Might catch some hate, but I’m not mad about this at all. Thor: Love & Thunder was ROUGH, to say the very least.”
In reply, RedMoloneySF says, “For me, it’s when someone has too distinctive of a style, one that I feel clashes with the vibe of Star Wars.”

Which seems to be most people’s issue.
Taika Waititi has made some very good films in his time, but his shtick doesn’t fit all films, nor does it land with all audiences.
One fan points out, “I have a feeling Taika’s style would be better suited to a low stakes TV project like Skeleton Crew.”
“...to make way for the Rian Johnson trilogy? I wish Lucasfilm knew what they were doing” said another Redditor, taking aim at the director of The Last Jedi, which still seems to catch flak.

Scrolling through the comments, it seems everyone is pretty unified on this point. Though I stand by Thor: Ragnarok, it was a lot of fun.
