Andor is getting closer to Rogue One

A legendary Star Wars villain is confirmed to be returning to our screens with Andor season two. It has been announced that Ben Mendelsohn is coming back for another performance as Rogue One bad guy, Orson Krennic.

The news comes from director Alonso Ruizpalacios who will be helming the final three episodes of the new season.

Star Wars will be returning to gaming with Star Wars Outlaws from Ubisoft later in 2024.

With an aim to shrink the window and distance between Andor and Rogue One, Mendelsohn will reprise his role bringing us closer to the events that sparked off Star Wars: A New Hope.

It was mentioned back in 2022 that the Andor crew already know how the show will end, right down to the exact layout of the final scene which will see Cassian Andor heading off to the Rings of Kafrene to meet Daniel Mays’ character.

Right now, there have been no other announcements of returning characters but as the show gets closer to the films there is a chance to meet familiar faces, and the showrunners aren’t shy about nodding to the Star Wars legacy as we’ve seen folks like Saw Guerrera and Ruescott Melshi previously.

We’re also unsure of how much of a role Krennic will play in the new season of the show. He may appear several times across the closing episodes, or be a simple cameo linking the plans for the Death Star to Andor himself.

Whatever happens, it’s great to see Mendelsohn back in Star Wars and hopefully we get to see more of what makes the character tick.

Of course, we’ll see a lot of the Empire within the show, but whether there’s a central villain is yet to be teased. The show is expected to premiere in 2025 following on from what most fans call Star Wars at its very best.
