The Punisher is returning to a new Marvel series, but it won’t be Frank Castle waging the next war on crime.
Comic books are a vicious cycle of heroes and villains disappearing, dying, or retiring only to return a few months later thanks to some sort of resurrection or call to action.

DC definitely do this, but I think Marvel could have potentially done it more, placing some of its finest heroes like The Avengers, X-Men and Spider-Man on the chopping block time after time.

The next hero to have their career ended only to be rejuvenated is The Punisher, Marvel’s ruthless, unstoppable vigilante who desperately needs a new video game, hopefully, set in Insomniac’s Marvel Spider-Man universe.
Frank Castle is hellbent on taking down criminals the hard way, by gunning them down, blowing them up, or chopping them into pieces, with his methods often being the main reason he doesn’t get along with other characters.
Castle’s war came to an abrupt end when he retired from vigilantism and teleported himself to another dimension, where he’ll likely (probably not) live out the rest of his days as a man of peace.
Now, The Punisher will return but with a new face taking up the mantle. A new character called Joe Garrison will step into the role after retiring from S.H.I.E.L.D, meaning he’ll likely have a lot more in his arsenal than Frank’s standard firearms.

The description for the new series reads: “Frank Castle has disappeared, but evil will always need to be punished. With all-new threats rising to claim innocent victims, criminals will need to beware of a dangerous vigilante hunting them from the shadows. Who is the new Punisher? What put him on his path of vengeance? And when the smoke clears, will he even make it out alive?”
Written by David Pepose, the series is set to introduce a new era of punishment, and is also described as “John Wick meets The Fugitive.”
The first issue will be released on 8 November.
