There's no doubt in anyone's minds that Tom Holland has given his all as Peter Parker in the most recent Spider-Man films. However, there is another actor who captured our hearts long before Holland; the only difference between the two of them is that he wasn't given the opportunity to shine as brightly.
Tobey Maguire is, for a lot of Marvel fans, the original Peter Parker. His portrayal of the character spoke to us on a personal level when the first film launched in the 00s, and especially when the third film was released. We all remember Maguire's emo hairstyle after "meeting" Venom.

That, dear reader, was peak cinema back then. And, some might argue, it still as.

Consequently, it's not surprising that a tease that Maguire might return as Spider-Man has got the fandom excited. In a recent interview with Sandman actor, Thomas Haden Church, it was seemingly hinted that Spider-Man 4 might star Maguire.
"You know, I think Sam [Raimi] is gonna do another Spider-Man with Tobey [Maguire]," said Church, before saying that they'd return as Sandman, although they're getting a "little old" now.
We've seen Maguire return to MCU before in No Way Home, much to the delight of fans who'd been hoping for such an on-screen moment between all three of their beloved Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield was, and still is, a fantastic Peter Parker as well). Therefore, we could see Marvel pull a similar trick again, maybe giving Maguire more screen time. However, what we really want to see is Maguire take the lead and be the Peter we know in our heart of hearts he'll always be.
For now, though, we have to wait for Marvel or Maguire or Raimi to reveal their plans in due time. It could be months, maybe years yet, until Maguire dons the Spidey suit again. But when he does, oh my, it'll be a glorious day for the fandom.
