Spider-Man fans, brace yourselves, it’s looking likely that Sony is going to attempt to reboot their Spider-Man universe. Again.

That’s right, not convinced by the atrocious outings of the likes of Morbius, Madame Web, and now Kraven the Hunter, Sony think the problem can be solved by rebooting it all.

The third Venom film marked the end of the success for Sony's Spider-Man Universe

Ah yes, the problem is obviously some ethereal thing that only Sony executives can see, no the glaringly obvious fact that none of the films contain Spider-Man.

This is according to Deadline, who reports, “We understand the studio is taking this misfire very seriously and a reset is in store for the non Spider-Verse and non-Tom Holland Marvel properties.”

Who knows what they plan to do if they do reboot the SSU, from the fan reaction and the box office, it might be best to let it die or hand over full rights to Marvel and stop greedily looking for double hitting viewers.

“If they were taking it seriously, they wouldn't release these stinkers,” said one fan over on a Reddit thread about the reboot.

Another fan has an idea that seems to have bypassed the Sony execs, “Why don’t they just make their own Spider-Man? For their own universe? Another Peter Parker? Or hell make it Miles?”

It doesn’t help that the studio keeps shoving villains at us as if any of them have any charisma or appeal without Spidey.

Sure, it worked with Venom, but you could argue that was partly down to Tom Hardy, and the draw of Venom generally.

“The fact that half the problems could have been solved if Spider-Man were in them is the worst part now that we know they could have done that all along,” said HaikusFromBuddha.

Will Sony learn this time? Will they cast a new Spider-Man? Will they realise nobody cares about villains unless they’re redeemed?
