Spider-Man 4 story details confirmed in our first proper teaser

Tough times ahead

We’re slowly getting new details on the upcoming MCU project, Spider-Man 4, this time from writer Amy Pascal who has been discussing the film.

Speaking recently to Deadline, Pascal has been sharing nuggets of information about what we can expect when Tom Holland puts on the suit for Spider-Man 4.

Marvel is soon to return to the big screen with Thunderbolts*

It appears that Peter Parker will be facing a huge identity crisis as Pascal describes him coming to terms with who he is after the finale events of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Interestingly, the plot seems to revolve around Peter not wanting to be himself, rather his hero alter-ego.

“Well, we have to deal with the fact that he decided he was going to give up being Peter Parker, and he was going to focus on being Spider-Man because being Peter Parker was too hard,” says Pascal.

Putting it simply, she continues, “So that's what the movie's about... There's room to grow.”

It’s going to be an interesting idea for the film, as this means we may see more of Spider-Man over Peter Parker, especially if Peter fears being himself.

It also could lead into the inevitable arrival of the symbiote and the black suit, which is known to prey on Peter when he’s feeling weak.

And we know Tom Holland is likely to appear in Secret Wars, where the symbiote was originally introduced.

Of course, that’s me rampantly speculating.

Pascal also mentioned in the interview her view on Destin Daniel Cretton’s assignment as director of the project, calling him “wonderful”.

Speaking on Tom Holland particularly, she said, “Movie stars are the reason that we go to movies,” cementing him as one of Marvel’s greats.

We’ll have to buckle in for a couple of years of guessing and seeking out more answers as the film moves into production.
