It seems that Marvel is setting its long-term plans into motion with its upcoming X-Men reboot with the franchise making its debut in the MCU.
At the time of writing, we don’t have a set date for when the first X-Men movie of the MCU will be released but many believe that it will arrive after Avengers: Secret Wars which is currently set for release in 2027.

Ever since Disney acquired 20th Century Studios in 2021, Marvel’s MCU is becoming more exciting than ever not only with the prospect of the X-Men crossing paths with the Avengers, but we may actually finally get a good Fantastic Four movie.

Speaking of which, earlier this week, Marvel Studios released the first full trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps and it looks like everything we’ve ever wanted from a live-action adaptation of the fantastical foursome.
While the release of the first X-Men movie in the MCU is years away, rumours are already making the rounds as to who will star in the production and it seems that it will feature mostly a young cast.
To be fair, other than older mentors, it makes total sense that X-Men will have a young cast, assuming that Professor Charles Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters (aka Xavier Institute) will be the central hub for a merry band of upstart heroes.
As reported by CBM.com (via industry insider Jeff Sneider), Sadie Sink (Stranger Things) will play Jean Grey, Harris Dickinson (The Iron Claw) will play Scott Summers and Julia Butters (Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood) will play Kitty Pryde.

At the time of writing, Sadie Sink is 22 years old, Harris Dickinson is 28, and Julia Butters is the youngest at just 15.
If the rumours are true and all three of the above actors are cast in the X-Men reboot, these are fantastic ages to begin their MCU journeys for the long term with Scott Summers often being one of the eldest students/mentors.
The X-Men reboot doesn't have a director announced yet, so it’s still in its very early stages. Hopefully, we’ll learn more in the coming months.
The next MCU movie is Captain America: Brave New World arriving next week on 14 February with Thunderbolts* concluding Phase 5 on 2 May 2025.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps will kick off Phase 6 of the MCU on 25 July 2025.
