The Marvel Cinematic Universe kicked off its Multiverse Saga a whopping four years ago, so it feels pretty odd that we’re yet to see anything in the way of an Avengers team-up.
You could argue that Avengers films are the glue holding each phase together, which may be why Phase Four and Phase Five exhibited rather mixed receptions.
This all being said, we do know when our next Avengers fix is coming.

Phase Six will bring us not one, but two Avengers films in the form of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
Of course, the team will need a new leader.
Previously, that position was jointly filled by Tony Stark (Iron Man) and Steve Rogers (Captain America), neither of whom - I’m sorry to say - are around any more.
Yes, you could say that Nick Fury is the leader but let’s be honest, he’s far too busy dealing with kree and skrull related antics these days.

While some have theorised that Captain Marvel, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and Thor may all step up to the plate, it turns out that the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World may be bringing us a concrete answer.
Watch the trailer for Captain America: Brave New World below ahead of the film’s 14 February release.
We’re mere weeks away from the film’s release but to whet our appetite in the meantime, Marvel Studios has dropped an interesting new clip.

The scene features a conversation between Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson, the new Captain America, and Harrison Ford’s Thaddeus Ross.
Ross, who’s serving as the US' new president, tells Wilson, “That’s why I want you, Captain America, to help me rebuild the Avengers.”
If we’re being pedantic, just because Wilson is being asked to rebuild the Avengers, it doesn’t mean with 100% certainty that he’ll be the group’s leader but it does vastly increase his chances.
After all, as the size of the team increases, that puts Wilson in the natural position of being the person everybody looks to.

There’s the possibility, however, that Ross is playing Wilson in some way. After all, the music playing is a tad tense and Ross is typically a Marvel antagonist.
So perhaps this clip has simply left us with more questions than answers, but it’s nice to see the MCU mentioning the Avengers again.
We’re building up to something, that’s for sure, even if we don’t know exactly what that something looks like.
