An unexpected premise, but I'm here for it

Marvel Studios has changed its tactics in recent years.

Gone are the days of announcing decades-long plans in advance.

The Infinity Saga’s release may have been smooth sailing, but that’s not the case for The Multiverse Saga.

If this second era has proved anything, it’s that plans may need to fluctuate and change.

You need look no further than the renaming of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, now Avengers: Doomsday, as proof of that.

With this in mind, Marvel Studios is now focusing on publicising just a handful of projects at a time - seen with this summer’s San Diego Comic Con panel that featured information on Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, and Avengers: Doomsday only.

That does mean we’re less in the know about what’s coming up in the MCU’s pipeline.

Spider-Man 4 and Thor 5 are assumed to be in the works, but neither have had ceremonious reveals.

Another unexpected project is also reportedly in development that would bring back two pre-Infinity War era characters.

ICYMI: Take a look at the new trailer for Thunderbolts* below.

Leaker MyTimeToShineH has revealed that John C. Reilly and Glenn Close are reportedly both set to reprise their Guardians of the Galaxy characters in a new series titled NOVA.

To refresh your memory, Reilly portrayed Rhomann Dey, a corpsman in the aptly titled NOVA Corps.

Close brought Irani Rael to life, the group’s leader.

At the end of Guardians of the Galaxy, Rael’s NOVA Corps were in possession of the power stone but by the time Infinity War rolled around, Thanos was revealed to have acquired the stone.

It’s never been explained exactly how this happened, including whether Rael and Dey survived Thanos’ inevitable attack or the so-called successive ‘snap’.

As always, I urge you to take this rumour with a generous pinch of salt until anything is confirmed by Marvel.

At this early stage, the response is mixed.

“I assume this is a prequel series to Infinity War since Thanos decimated Xandar, unless both characters somehow survived him grabbing the power stone,” wrote JStormtrooper.

“Thank god. Imagine having THE Glenn Close in the MCU and not using her,” commented TheJackOfDiamonds, while The_Overlord_Laharl added, “Please just give us Richard Rider reestablishing the corps post-Xandar. I don’t care for Gunn’s version of them tbh.”

We’re going to have to remain patient for now.
