Despite having strong roots in family entertainment, the Marvel Cinematic Universe can be pretty dark, and has shown quite an alarming amount of on-screen deaths.

The Avengers themselves are responsible for more than a few of these, as over the years they’ve toppled gods, slayed titans and wiped out armies in their quest to defend the world from threats.

Check out the trailer for Marvel 1943: Rise Of Hydra below.

However, which one of the Marvel superheroes is responsible for the most death and destruction in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Well, there doesn’t seem to be a concrete answer but it turns out Iron Man is a contender for the most homicidal hero.

This isn’t much of a surprise, as the first Iron Man film, also the first MCU film, ended with Tony personally dispatching the Iron Monger to save the day, thus starting his killing spree.

According to Looper, which has done the maths and combined several lists of Iron Man’s kills, it turns out he’s personally seen off over 150,000 during his time as Earth’s best defender.

A big chunk of these kills comes from him sending a nuke into space in the first Avengers film, as well as using the infinity gauntlet in Avengers: Endgame, though if you want to be cheeky, you could also count the people who’ve perished due to weapons developed by Stark Industries….

Whether Tony has the biggest kill count on the team is unknown, as I’d reckon Thor has slayed just as many, if not more, over the thousand or so years he’s been alive in the MCU, and of course Thanos killed half of the universe, so that seems like a clear win in my book.

Nevertheless, Tony Stark stood on business, and while his sacrifice in Endgame was woefully sad, it’s even more painful to realise it also ended his impressive kill streak.
