Kamala Khan, also known as Ms. Marvel to some, is a relatively new character in the world of Marvel comic books.
However, despite her newfound popularity, the character was recently unceremoniously killed - and fair to say, Marvel fans weren't exactly thrilled with this.
Check out the Ms. Marvel trailer below!
Kamala Khan made her first Marvel Comics debut as a cameo in 2013’s Captain Marvel #14 before making her first full appearance the following year in All-New Marvel Now! #1.

Since that time, the charming character has grown in popularity with fans.
Ms. Marvel then got her own mini-series on Disney Plus in 2022 and went on to play a leading role alongside her mentor Captain Marvel and Photon in 2023's The Marvels.
It’s important not to forget what brought Kamala Khan to the dance in the first place and that’s, of course, the marvellous world of comic books.
Yet, Kamala might not look upon one particular comic book issue so favourably.

In issue 26 of The Amazing Spider-Man series that began in 2022, Kamala Khan was killed, to put it bluntly.
Fans have wondered why this decision was made and all was apparently revealed in an episode of The Amazing Spider-Talk podcast with comic writer Cody Ziglar.
According to him, that decision was made by Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige.
“Feige was like, ‘Hey, I don’t do this very often but, can you please do this to make things in line with the MCU because we have some stuff we want to do with Kamala,’” Ziglar said.

“He [Zeb Wells, current writer of The Amazing Spider-Man] was like, 'I’m the guy that drew the short straw? People are going to be very mad that I have to kill Ms. Marvel.'”
Interestingly, following this podcast, Marvel released a statement declaring that Ziglar’s version of events was not accurate and Ms. Marvel’s death was “a collective Marvel editorial decision that the team had been working on for a while for her development in the core comics".
Essentially, Marvel execs needed comic book Kamala to come back as a mutant to match her MCU counterpart.
Marvel fans on Reddit have been discussing the controversial decision to kill Ms. Marvel in The Amazing Spider-Man #26.

“I don't really get it. Was it just to make her a mutant? They could have revealed her as a mutant without killing her,” suggests Mindless-Run6297.
“I get that Kamala was always intended to be a mutant and was only an inhuman because of Ike Perlmutter’s contest with Fox, but killing off Kamala Khan only to bring her back as a mutant is a pretty cynical move on Marvel’s part,” said a Reddit user.
“I wish Feige would get over his weird need to have the comics conform to the movies. If anything it should be the other way around,” replied another Redditor.
You can purchase copies of The Amazing Spider-Man wherever you buy your physical comics or read them digitally via Marvel Unlimited.
