Avengers Vs. X-Men officially announced by Marvel

A battle for the ages

Two mighty Marvel teams are going to war when The Avengers take on the X-Men, and it’s going to be a battle for the ages.

Marvel has given us countless superhero teams over the years, from its first family the Fantastic Four, to the supernatural Midnight Suns, there’s always a team of heroes handy to save the day.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is welcoming a new team to its cast, when the Thunderbolts drops in cinemas next year

However when you think of Marvel you’ll typically either think The Avengers or the X-Men, who occasionally team-up now and then in the comics.

This time around though they’ll be enemies in a new comic series that’ll act as a sequel to Avengers Vs X-Men (2012).

As you’ve probably gathered the two teams have come to blows before, so there’s definitely a few scores to settle.

The conflict will take place with the current Avengers line-up, and was teased through a comic cover showing Captain Marvel smacking Cyclops with a punch, not exactly a fair match-up.

The most interesting part of the conflict though is Storm, who’s currently a member of The Avengers while Thor is off on his own adventures. It seems her loyalties will be put to the test as she decides which side she’s truly on.

This is Marvel though, so I’m sure everything will turn out fine. If anything they’ll scrap for a bit before breaking bread and teaming up to face the real big bad, which looks to be Magneto based on the same comic cover.

With the MCU slowly bringing mutants into more stories, there’s an excellent chance we’ll actually see the Avengers and X-Men fight one day on the big-screen, though that probably won’t be until after Avengers: Secret Wars.

When it does happen though, it could be one of the best storylines the MCU will have given us so far.
