We all know by this point that Avengers: Secret Wars will rewrite the MCU rulebook as we know it.
If you’re unfamiliar with the idea behind the comic book Secret Wars, Doctor Doom gets involved with a dastardly plan and essentially the whole Marvel universe gets merged and rebooted.
Marvel is back next year with an ensemble cast for Thunderbolts*
From what Kevin Feige and certain Hollywood insiders have said, we can expect that same thing for the MCU.

Speaking recently at Disney APAC Content Showcase in Singapore, Feige commented, “The whole story of Secret Wars really leads us into a new age of mutants and of the X-Men.”
This is corroborated in some ways by film scooper, MTTSH who said we’ll see, “A new universe where Mutants/X-Men have always existed in the MCU.”
This could means that mutants have been among us for some time in the MCU, much like Ms Marvel.
One theory doing the rounds is that Scarlet Witch will be revealed as having mutant genes, as she does in the comics, and she will help to defeat Doctor Doom by creating a new reality where mutants being to thrive.

This would work in opposite to the infamous comic book storyline, House of M, where she wanted to eradicate mutants.
I love this idea and hope it plays out this way in the MCU. What better way to redeem Wanda Maximoff by having her defeat Doom and change the world, hopefully for the better.
Either way, the introduction of the mutants, and having them have existed in the MCU all along, will drastically change the MCU for good.
This leaves me wondering how many Avengers-style heroes we’ll see in the next Saga.

If it’s the Mutant Saga as so many believe, will characters like Captain America still have a place?
After all, Marvel will likely want to use solo projects for major X-Men characters like Wolverine and Rogue, perhaps as new origin stories.
However it shakes out, we’re in for a very different MCU in a few years.
