Avengers: Doomsday's lead hero isn't who MCU fans expected

They'll be a key part of the battle

As we prepare to enter the final stages of the Multiverse Saga within the MCU, we know the heroes of Earth will be going toe-to-toe with Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.

However, with the Avengers scattered to the wind, we have no idea what the heroic team will look like, though a recent tweet points to one particular hero playing a pivotal role.

New characters are being showcased for the upcoming Marvel Rivals.

According to the latest rumour, Marvel Studios is looking for a teenage actor to step into the role of Franklin Richards, son of Sue Storm and Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four.

We’ll see them as an infant in Fantastic Four: First Steps, though they’ll have entered their teenage years for Avengers: DOOMSDAY.

Why is this important? Well, in the comics, Franklin is one of the most powerful heroes out there and can create entire universes and this plays an important role in the Secret Wars storyline which may translate to screen.

It seems fans are surprised by the rumour but that’s because many MCU followers have no idea who Franklin is or why he’s so important.

On Reddit, fans are shocked but excited by this revelation, though some worry that by adding another important character, the film will feel watered down.

“How many characters are going to be in this movie? At this point, everyone gets like 10 seconds of screen time to fit everyone in,” says LavenderWaffles69.

One fan has a very interesting theory about how Franklin fits into the bigger picture: “Maybe the 'First Steps' are him learning to use his powers properly so he can get them all home to the prime universe from which they came.”

This would then set up audiences, allowing them to see Franklin’s power, which could go on to save the heroes at the last minute, resetting the MCU.

It’s going to be a lot of responsibility for young Franklin, and the actor that plays him.
