Harry Potter star addresses potential return in TV reboot

It's quite the statement to make

As the excitement builds for the Harry Potter reboot on HBO, casting rumours are swirling around nearly every day.

Fans of the Harry Potter franchise and the Wizarding World are eagerly awaiting official news on the casting of the core characters that will make up the new TV show based on the books.

More news on the HBO reboot of Harry Potter will likely appear this year.

Speaking to Deadline, but reported by DiscussingFilm on Twitter, Jason Isaacs has commented on his possible return to the franchise as Lucius Malfoy.

The star is noted to have said, “I’m hoping to come back as Hermione.”

I can’t tell if this statement is sarcasm, a pithy jape, or a disdain for the Harry Potter franchise, at this point.

Either way, it’s a truly Slytherin reply, and said as if Isaacs is chaneling his character and believing the question to be beneath him.

Of course, fans are taking it to be a funny aside from the star who played the evil and vindictive Malfoy.

“That’s the kind of plot twist even Voldemort wouldn’t see coming,” commented one fan on Twitter.

Another simply said, “Lucius Malfoy's witty humour shines.”

We have no official word on casting yet, any news will likely be saved for later in the year when Harry Potter day rolls around on 2 May.

Another fan comments on what they’d like to see from the HBO reboot, saying, “I think that one of the original actors SHOULD return as a way of connecting and bringing in fans of the original films.”

I’m sure there will be cameos dotted throughout, though many stars may want to distance themselves from the franchise as it has been so long since they were a part of it.

Should any casting news come out of Warner Bros or HBO, we’ll be the first to bring it to you.
