Harry Potter fans are obsessed with one of its most puzzling mysteries and answers have been provided.
Not taking into account the 2016 stage play turned novel, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, it’s been nearly 18 years since the last novel was released with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in 2007.

However, to make you feel a bit better, it’s been nearly 14 years since the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 at the cinema. Actually, that probably never made you feel any better whatsoever.

Anywho, any fan of the Harry Potter franchise will know that it has a lot of secrets buried, such as what happened to Dudley Dursley. One other mystery relates to the Department of Mysteries (talk about being on the nose).
“After all these years, I want to know what the Department of Mysteries was researching with the Veil. Why is it there, who made it, and is it a gateway to other dimensions/realities?” asked a Reddit user. “It was such a tease to be never mentioned again. This fascinates me more than the Hallows.”
Thankfully, as you might expect, fellow Reddit users were keen to answer the questions that have been tormenting us more than the Dementor’s.
“Dumbledore refers to it as the death chamber. It's where wizards study death. It's never revealed what is beyond the Veil, but we can assume it's the world of the dead or something similar,” themorah answered.

“I didn’t read the books but according to the wiki: in the movie, Sirius was hit by the Death Curse and then floated in there,” replied really_nice_guy, adding more details. “But in the books, Bellatrix used a spell that pushed Sirius into the Veil making him die.”
There you have it, that is what the Department of Mysteries was researching in Harry Potter. That being said, I’m sure there are plenty more mysteries related to this department that may never be uncovered.
