The Harry Potter reboot has been a source of discussion since HBO revealed its project.
Even though Harry Potter fans are divided on many of the unsubstantiated details about the upcoming TV show, there’s one bit of speculation they’re united on: the casting for Professor Quirrell.
Industry insider Daniel Richtman has returned with another scoop about the HBO reboot.

Considering the amount of claims Richtman makes, it’s fair to say he doesn’t always get it right.
That being said, several of his claims have later been proven accurate, so while we still question the validity of this leak, we can’t outright dismiss it either.

As per ComicBook, Richtman purportedly said, “Cillian Murphy is eyed to play Professor Quirinus Quirrell.”

Since the casting gossip started to spread, r/HarryPotteronHBO has been abuzz with fan discussions, most of which support this casting choice.
Redditor rose-haze posted, “As much as I’d LOVE him as Voldemort, I can see this too especially if he doesn’t want to commit to multiple seasons.”
It seems there are several parts Murphy could play, though Quirrell would be the least demanding, as suggested by rose-haze.
“Now that's a role I can see him in,” remarked SeerPumpkin.

The only issues fans foresee with this choice, if it’s even real, is that Murphy is a little older than the books describe Quirrell.
Moreover, Murphy is a huge actor with many awards to his name; many feel like this role is beneath his talents.
With HBO quietly at work on this project, all we have is insider gossip to go on, similarly to the claims that a spin-off to the reboot is also being worked on by the network as well.
For now, all we can do is wait to see if either of these rumours – and the various others circulating – have a nugget of truth to them.

Without any announcement from either HBO or Murphy, we’ll treat this gossip as just that until told otherwise.
