The new Harry Potter reboot series has reportedly found its Severus Snape, and everyone is being completely normal about it, I swear.
The series will retell the story of the books, made even more popular by the films, and provide fans with a new cast to play the beloved characters.

It’s said the show has already found who it wants as the new Severus Snape, as reports say the role has been offered to Paapa Essiedu.

As you can imagine, 'fans' have had a lot to say about this and there’s an unfortunate number of them who are already proclaiming outrage at the thought of a black actor playing a fictional wizard.
Snape was previously played by Alan Rickman, who brought such emotion to the role that his performance is definitely going to be hard to beat.
The more level-headed fans agree with this, as one said, “No one will ever hold a candle to Alan Rickman.”
Others pointed out that with certain audience reactions and Rickman's legacy with the character, Essiedu is doomed either way, with one saying, “Feel bad for the dude already. I'd run for the hills if it were me, it's just not worth the headache.”

It's a shame to see such narrow-minded attitudes already plastered over the internet. Essiedu is incredibly talented and could provide an interesting, more youthful take on Snape.
As for the rest of the cast, it’s unknown who is in the running, but it’s believed the show will be aiming for young actors who match the age of Harry and his friends in the first story as the show is planning on sticking around for 10 years.
J.K Rowling is said to still be involved in the production of the reboot, much to the dismay of fans who are still shunning her for toxic comments made in the past.
HBO has stuck by its decision to include her in the production though.
