Some of you may be unfazed about who should play which character, but for others it’s of the utmost importance that the correct actor is selected.
The Harry Potter fandom has already been thrown into disarray over Voldemort’s recasting in the HBO series, and it looks like who’ll play Dumbledore is causing problems too.

As far as the OP is concerned, only Sir Ian McKellen could play the part well, especially following in the footsteps of Michael Gambon and Richard Harris.
While fans can understand the OP’s suggestion, the age of McKellen has them worried. In the words of jessebona, “We really don't need another mid-run switch of Dumbledore.”
Another actor who was put forward was Jared Harris.
Not only is he the son of the original Dumbledore actor, but he’s also a “great actor in his own right”.

Some fans suggested Jude Law, seeing how he played the role in Fantastic Beasts. However, audiences felt he was too young then, with that opinion still holding true now.
Liam Neeson, Bill Nighy, Stephen Fry – these actors were also mentioned and discussed.
The problem is that nobody can properly agree with one another. The only time an accord was struck was when Jared Harris was mentioned, and that united front didn’t last long.

It’s true. There are plenty of brilliant actors who could be cast as Dumbledore, so how are we meant to choose?
