As the hype train slowly builds up steam on its journey to the Harry Potter HBO reboot, Warner Bros. executives have spoken on the potential of the new show.
In an interview with Variety, Robert Oberschelp, Warner Bros. Discovery’s head of global consumer products, made several comments on the franchise.
Harry Potter's latest gaming outing was in the wizarding sports game Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions
He compared the role of Harry Potter to legends such as Batman, a character that has been portrayed in many ways by many actors over the years.

“How many different Batmans are there?” This is what Oberschelp asked, referencing the idea that Harry Potter can be played by different actors for years to come.
He hopes that decades from now, people will ask, “What Harry are you?” in the same way they ask who is your favourite Batman or James Bond?
Of course, we only have one Harry Potter right now in Daniel Radcliffe, whose performance will go down in history as career-defining and a role that formed the basis of many childhoods and fandoms.
But that will change, as HBO has already started casting Harry, Hermione, and Ron for the new show with an aim to commit to “inclusive, diverse casting.”

This statement comes after Warner Bros. firmly decided on a ten year plan for the Harry Potter universe which includes new games, TV shows, and supporting products.
It’s hardly a surprise that Harry Potter is already being rebooted - the first book came out in 1997 and the first film premiered four years later in 2001.
Audiences continue to grow and our favourite stories must grow too.
With this new show, we will get another Harry, a “more in-depth” adaptation of the books, and a different look at life at Hogwarts.

And much like Batman, who has been played by Keaton, Pattinson, Bale, Affleck, Kilmer, and Clooney just since the 1990s, we’ll likely still be casting, watching, and talking about Harry Potter actors for decades to come.
