Today, or yesterday, depending on where you’re located in the world, marks the debut of the season finale of House of The Dragon’s second season.
I’ll be diving in later on at the earliest opportunity, but if you’ve already rolled credits, worry not.
You’ll be returning to Westeros soon enough.
Advert
Of course, House of The Dragon will return for a third season but a brand new series is also on the way - and best of all, it’s already received its first teaser.
Titled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, the upcoming series is based on George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones prequel series Tales of Dunk and Egg.
It’s set 90 years before the events of the main series, following the two titular heroes as they navigate life in Westeros amidst Targaryen rule.
It’s a Targaryen rule that vastly differs from what we’re currently seeing in the dragon-heavy House of the Dragon.
Advert
By the time we reach A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, only memories of the last Targaryen dragon remain.
To be specific, the series takes place around 100 years after the events of House of the Dragon, but we will encounter several members of the Targaryen dynasty.
House of the Dragon has completed airing its second season.
The series will release in 2025, with Peter Claffey portraying Ser Duncan the Tall and Dexter Sol Ansell as Aegon V Targaryen.
Advert
The brief five-second teaser doesn’t give much away, but we see an array of familiar Westerosian scenes.
There’s an armour-clad Dunk, a glimpse of Egg sitting by the fire, plus another individual I can’t quite make out practising their swordsmanship in the forest.
Take a look at the teaser below.
The Dunk and Egg novellas comprise three tales: The Hedge Knight, The Sworn Sword, and The Mystery Knight.
Advert
The TV series may have nabbed the title of The Hedge Knight but presumably, it’ll attempt to adapt all three.
“Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends,” reads the official synopsis.
With 2025 rapidly on the way, we’ll be keeping an eye out for further updates.
