Batman fans revolted by horrifying new Joker

Well, there's no sugarcoating this one, because he's definitely wearing a suit made of babies

We finally got our first look at DC’s next interpretation of Batman’s greatest foe The Joker and, uh… look I don’t really know where to start with this one. Nightmare fuel doesn’t even begin to cover it.

Quick spoiler warning before we get into it: this article contains pretty huge spoilers for issue #6 of the latest DC comic series Absolute Batman, so don’t read further if you’re not caught up!

So, the latest issue of the new alternate-universe Batman series Absolute Batman just dropped, and we’ve finally got to take our first look at its reimagining of The Joker.

In case you’re unfamiliar with the series, here’s the hook; in this universe, Batman is just a guy.

No rich parents, no fancy gadgets– just a dude called Bruce Wayne who works on a construction site and beats bad guys up at night in a bat costume. Oh, and he’s ginormous. Like, bro is as wide as a chest of drawers.

So, if Batman is just a normal, albeit massive, guy in this universe, then what’s the deal with The Joker? Well, he’s kind of stolen Bruce Wayne’s original origin.

He’s rich and he was trained by the League of Shadows to kill people, and he’s also apparently an incredible detective.

Um, he also… wears a suit made of dead babies.

Over in a thread on the r/TwoBestFriendsPlay subreddit featuring the new design, everyone seems to be in agreement that this is completely bonkers.

“Yep, nothing f**ked up or weird about this Joker,” commented user Shiplord13.

“Just absorbing the life-force of dead babies, by the look of it. Nothing strange at all…”

“Ok, I was defending this series when someone said it was too edgy in another thread,” replied user Sperium3000, “but I gotta admit that is hilariously edgy.”

Honestly, I think this is a super interesting take on the character… but I really hope they explain his outfit in the next issue.

No way that’s just a fashion choice.
