breaking news
For a certain generation, the original Predator film might be considered one of the greatest action thrillers ever put to film. Starring the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Carl Weathers as beefed up army blokes fighting a dangerous hunter from another planet, it’s easy to see why it buried its teeth into so many people back in 1988.
As it goes, no successful movie can have just one release, and Predator was no different, spawning countless spin-offs and reboots. The latest of which, Prey, actually looks… pretty good?
Check out the trailer for it right here.
Prey is set 300 years ago in the Comanche nation and follows the story of a young woman called Naru who wants to become a hunter for her tribe. It’ll serve as a prequel to the other four films and, as you can probably guess (especially if you’ve already watched that trailer there), things quickly go sideways when a Predator turns up. Originally stalking the alien to protect her people from its bloodlust and technologically advanced arsenal, the lines blur between who is the hunter and who is the prey. I see what they’ve done with the title there. Very clever.

The trailer itself actually does a decent job of showing us what we can expect, as the Predator engages in deadly showdowns with the human hunters. We see a few skulls getting smooshed as well as some pretty high intensity chase scenes. What more could you possibly want from a Predator film?
The movie is being directed by Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane) and will star Amber Midthunder (The Ice Road), Dane DiLiegro as the Predator, Michelle Thrush (The Northlander) and more. When can you watch Prey for yourself? Well that’s easy - it’s going to be coming to Disney+ in the UK on August 5th 2022.
